1st Mission: Cameroon
2023
  • 4 days of work
  • 6 lives saved
  • 120 patients received medical care
A Team of Russian Medical Specialists Saved 6 Lives
In November 2023, a team of three — a midwife-paramedic, a gynecologic surgeon, and an interpreter — traveled to Cameroon.

The team worked in the city of Ngaoundéré and the Kingdom of Idul. The medical specialists assisted with childbirth, provided general medical consultations, performed neonatal resuscitation, and carried out surgical procedures.

Despite the small size of the team, the Russian medical specialists saved 6 lives, while 120 local residents received diagnostic services, medical consultations, and treatment. Humanitarian aid was also provided, including medical instruments, medications, consumables, and equipment.

  • Assisted with a gentle childbirth, teaching the woman essential birthing techniques.
  • Performed a cesarean section on a woman carrying twins who had two previous uterine scars.
  • Resuscitated a premature newborn following a complicated delivery attended by a local midwife. Due to complications associated with the management of labor, the baby developed apnea and hypothermia. Thanks to timely resuscitation, the medical team stabilized the baby's breathing, restored cardiac function, normalized body temperature, and stabilized vital signs. The baby's life was saved.

PROVIDED TRAININNG FOR DOCTORS:
  • Training in natural pain relief techniques during childbirth (particularly relevant for countries in Southern Africa where access to medications is limited).
  • Training in manual techniques for managing shoulder dystocia.
  • Training in early and delayed umbilical cord clamping: modern approaches, indications, and risks.
  • Educational surgical procedures, including cesarean delivery of twins, removal of an intrauterine device (IUD) embedded in the uterine wall, and tumor removal.
